The Novelty Bottles of Parfums de Marcy

Transcript

Do you wish your perfume came in an orange slice? How about in a sapphire bracelet? What about a pearl necklace? Get your head out of the gutter.

These were all packaging presentations of a Parisian brand called Parfums de Marcy – not to be confused with the current brand Parfums de Marly.

There’s not a ton of information that I could find on Parfums de Marcy – such as their history and what their scents were like. They were mostly known for their novelty perfume bottles.

The orange came out in 1925 and each slice had a different perfume and you can see better here, the cork fit into the bottom of the orange and the outside was painted to look like a rind.

They also had a set of champagne bottles which looks so fun – there’s a single one from this presentation set available right now on eBay.

And then here is what the pearls look like when you open the bottles.

And here’s a perfume bottle shaped like a clock.

Complete sets of any of these bottles from Parfums de Marcy are extremely rare and go for thousands of dollars. This mint complete set of the orange went for $3200 at auction. And if you have a couple grand to drop you’re in luck because there’s an auction happening next month through the International Perfume Bottle Association and they have the pearls, the sapphires, and the orange slices up for auction.

If we all pool our money we can each have an orange slice!
